He runs as fast as I do.

This is not so difficult as I expected.

This room is twice as large as that one.

As many as 500 people attended.

ポイント:not as(so)... as = 〜ほど… 倍数 + as ... as = 〜の○倍。as many / much as = 〜もの(数量が多いという気持ち)。

This book is much more interesting than that one.

He is even taller than his father.

He is two years older than I.

ポイント:比較級の強調は much / far / still / even / a lot。very は使えない(× very better)。

the +比較級 ..., the +比較級 ~

The more you read, the more you learn.

The sooner, the better.

着眼点the +最上級 + in / of 〜。

She is the tallest girl in her class.

This is by far the best restaurant in town.

This is the most beautiful place I have ever visited.

強調は by far / much / the very。 (The lake is deepest here.)や、副詞の最上級(He runs (the) fastest.)

Nothing is more ... than 〜、No other ... is as ... as 〜。

Nothing is more important than health.

No other city in Japan is as large as Tokyo.

He is taller than any other boy in his class.

than any other + 単数名詞も同じ。

no more than / not more than / no less than / not less than

no more than 〜〜しかない(少ない)He had no more than ten yen.
not more than 〜多くても〜(せいぜい)It takes not more than ten minutes.
no less than 〜〜も(多い)She read no less than fifty books.
not less than 〜少なくとも〜It takes not less than an hour.

not so much A as B / B rather than A

He is not so much a scholar as a teacher.

He is more a poet than a scientist.

It was a warning rather than a threat.

ポイント:not so much A as B = more B than A = B rather than A = 「AというよりB」。 not so much as 〜(〜さえしない)とは別の形なので、混同しない。

必須

than の後ろの省略と、that of / those of

The population of Tokyo is larger than that of Osaka.

Prices here are higher than those in Tokyo.

His English is better than mine.
