What matters most in reading is knowing where the sentence ends.

Modern technology makes it possible for us to work from home.
I don't know what to do next.
Tell me where he lives.
注意:× Tell me where does he live. Do you know where he lives?
|---|---|---|
| 名詞+that 節 | the fact that he left | 彼が去ったという事実 |
| 名詞+of +動名詞 | the habit of getting up early | 早起きの習慣 |
| 名詞, 名詞, | Tokyo, the capital of Japan, | 日本の首都である東京 |
| the city of 〜 | the city of Kyoto | 京都という都市 |

Not only A but also B では、倒置するのはNot only が文頭に来た側の節だけ。
Only when I moved abroad did I realize how much I depended on my family.

Only Tom knew the answer.(トムだけが答えを知っていた)。
“I like coffee.” “So do I.”
“I can't swim.” “Neither can I.”
助動詞は前の文の動詞に合わせる(like → do、can't → can)。

(The teacher solved the problem.)。
注意:形式主語の It is 形容詞 that S V(It is true that he left.) It is not until ... that 〜 も強調構文の形。
He did say so.
This is the very book I was looking for.
She did it herself.

| A is to B what C is to D | AのBに対する関係は、CのDに対する関係と同じ | Reading is to the mind what food is to the body. |

and / but / while のあとに多い。
出会ったら、「Such is 〜=それは〜だ」「So 形容詞 was S that 〜=Sはとても〜だったので…」
